Tata Motors showcased the Harrier EV at the Auto Expo 2025, held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. While the Harrier EV is not a born-electric vehicle (BEV) like some of Tata’s future models, it is expected to be one of the most rugged and capable electric SUVs in the Indian market. Harrier EV will cater to those looking for a premium electric SUV experience with a strong road presence.
The Harrier is known for its imposing dimensions, and the EV version stays true to that. Tata Motors appears committed to delivering a battery pack that matches the SUV’s size and performance expectations. This means the Harrier EV will likely offer more driving range compared to smaller electric SUVs like the Creta EV or Tata’s Curvv EV.
For reference, the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to deliver around 450 km per charge, while Tata’s Curvv EV promises a range of approximately 500 km. Given the Harrier EV’s larger size and AWD setup, it is reasonable to expect a range exceeding 500 km on a full charge, making it a strong contender in the premium electric SUV segment.
When to Expect Tata Harrier EV on roads
When non-camouflaged cars are spotted during road testing, it usually indicates that the vehicle is in the final stages of development. Automakers typically follow a predictable timeline from this point:
3 to 6 Months – For facelifts or minor updates, the official launch usually happens within 3 to 6 months of non-camouflaged sightings. These models require less testing since the platform and core systems remain unchanged.
6 to 12 Months – For all-new models or major updates, the launch generally takes 6 to 12 months after public road testing begins. This period allows for final validation, marketing preparations, and production scaling.
12+ Months – Electric vehicles (EVs) or cars with new platforms can take 12 months or more due to extensive battery and software testing. For example, if the Tata Harrier EV is seen without camouflage in mid-2025, it could realistically launch by early or mid-2026.
