The Fault Behind the Recall

The defect has been traced to the reverse lamp assembly, where a multi-layer vent patch which is designed to regulate internal pressure that may degrade over time due to temperature fluctuations. This allows moisture to infiltrate the housing, potentially corroding internal components such as the circuit board, connector, or wiring harness. The result? Complete or partial failure of the reverse lights.

This isn’t a mere cosmetic issue. When a vehicle cannot signal its movements properly, the chances of a back-over incident or driveway collision escalate, particularly for larger vehicles like pickups that already suffer from limited rearward visibility.

Gasoline Variants: Built between May 10, 2021, and March 26, 2025

Toyota has confirmed that dealerships will replace both reverse lamp assemblies with upgraded components, free of charge. Additionally, technicians will inspect wiring harnesses and repair or replace them if corrosion is found. Owners who previously paid for such repairs may apply for reimbursement under Toyota’s General Reimbursement Plan.

Notification Timeline

Official recall notifications will begin reaching affected owners by mid-July 2025, with some possibly arriving as early as late June. The recall will be carried out under Toyota’s internal reference codes 24TB06/24TA06 and NHTSA campaign 25V322000.
